Management of Akyem Oda Community Health Nursing Training School in the Eastern Region is appealing to government and corporate Ghana to come to the aid of the school by providing a befitting school bus.
According to the Principal of the School, Jones Abekah Baah, the current school bus in the school was donated by the Japanese government in 1989 to enable the school to facilitate the transportation of the trainee nurses to carry out their clinical and other academic-related activities outside the campus.
However, after about 32 years of operation couple with installation of seven(7) new engines, the bus has grounded.
“The bus was donated to us by the Japanese government in 1989. We have changed the engine 7 times it is not even working again.”
This he says, has brought huge challenge to the school.
Principal Jones Abekah Baah also added that the school needs an expansion of infrastructure to help accommodate the increasing number of students as a result of the introduction of new academic courses which includes midwifery and a degree in public health.
He said this 13th matriculation ceremony held in Akyem Oda during the weekend.
The Principal advised nurses in the country to value their profession as a service to humanity hence must accord patients with respect and honour at their health facilities.
