The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has finally announced the postponement of the 2025 Championship for African Nations (CHAN).
The much-anticipated tournament initially scheduled for February will now be held in August 2025, with Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania expected to co-host the event.
CAF expects the construction and renovation of stadiums, training fields, hotels, and healthcare facilities to be done before August 2025.
However, CAF’s technical and infrastructure experts have advised that additional time is needed to meet the high standards required for a successful championship.
“The Confederation of African Football (CAF) today announced the postponement of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024 to August 2025,” CAF said in a statement
“Good progress has been made in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda with the construction and upgrading of stadiums, training fields, hotels, hospitals and other infrastructure and facilities for the hosting of a successful TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024.”
The official draw for the tournament will take place in Nairobi on January 15, 2025.
