The perpetrators, alleged to be unidentified NPP members, have sparked outrage in the camp of Lawyer Eric Owusu.
Samuel Agyei Donkor, commonly known as “Raby” and spokesperson for the youth, voiced his disappointment, emphasizing the paradox of NPP members sabotaging a fellow party aspirant’s campaign.
He urgently called on both Eastern regional and national NPP executives to intervene promptly, urging unity among party members to prevent internal conflicts during the primaries.
“We are very disappointed and astonished for the same NPP party members to be going on a contest, and some people have decided to destroy the billboard of a certain aspirant.” Said Samuel Agyei Donkor.
Foster Kojo Frimpong, the NPP first vice chairman for Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency, echoed the sentiment, expressing shock and disappointment at the destruction of Lawyer Eric Owusu Mensah’s billboard.
Frimpong, believing the culprits to be fellow NPP members, emphasized the party’s determination to secure victory in the upcoming elections and urged supporters to refrain from disruptive behavior.
Foster Kojo Frimpong said “I was shocked and disappointed seeing the billboard of Lawyer Eric Owusu Mensah being destroyed by unknown persons who I believe to be people from the NPP party.”
The incident has also prompted discontent among the youth supporting Lawyer Eric Owusu Mensah, who shared their displeasure, highlighting the need for internal harmony within the party.
As the NPP braces for primaries, this unexpected act of vandalism raises concerns about internal cohesion and the party’s ability to “break the eight” in the upcoming elections.
The call for unity within the party has now taken center stage, stressing the importance of a peaceful and collaborative electoral process.
The incumbent Member of Parliament Hon Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah who is also Minister of Information is being contested by two aspirants -Maxwell Osei-Gyamerah and Eric Owusu-Mensah.
