Madam Christiana Obenewaa, the Guidance and Counselling Coordinator at Offori Panin Senior High School, has encouraged students to prepare themselves adequately for life after secondary school. She made this statement when she served as chairperson at the school’s empowerment summit organized for final-year students.
According to her, the programme brought together former students of Offori Panin SHS who are now professionals, including lecturers, to interact with their juniors and share their experiences about university life. She explained that the initiative was aimed at guiding students on how to comport themselves, adapt to academic freedom, and make responsible decisions when they enter tertiary institutions.
Mr Seth Kofi Twum, a clinical pharmacist and an old student, also addressed the gathering. He said the programme was designed to prepare students for the realities of life beyond senior high school. He noted that every parent dreams of helping their children achieve greater success than they did, and therefore students must take their education and personal development seriously.
He further explained that students must understand the difference between secondary school and the outside world, especially university life, where independence and responsibility are required. He said inviting former students to mentor the current students would help them learn valuable life lessons and become responsible individuals in the future.
Mr Twum advised the students to focus on three key values to succeed in life: faith in God, discipline, and respect for others.
