The District Chief Executive, DCE, nominee for Okere in Eastern region Daniel Kenneth Addo has received 100% confirmation from Assembly members on Monday.
All the 30 Assembly Members present voted “Yes” representing 100% of the total valid votes cast.
Before his nomination and subsequent confirmation, Hon Daniel Kenneth was the District Chief Executive for the same Assembly during the first administration of H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana.
The Election was conducted by the District Electoral Officer, Ms. Theresa Carrey, following which Hon. Daniel Kenneth was officially sworn into office by the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon Seth Kwame Acheampong.
In a brief statement, Hon. Daniel Kenneth thanked President Nana Akufo-Addo for the trust reposed in him by nominating him to represent him for the second time.
He also thanked the Honourable Local Government, Rural Development and Decentralization Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon Dan Kwaku Botwe, Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong, Traditional Authorities, Assembly Members, Staff, and the general public for the love and support received in the past and expressed hope of an improved relationship between them in his second term.
Present at the event were Dan Botwe, Hon Seth Kwame Acheampong, Traditional Authorities, NPP Regional, and Constituency Executives, and the general public.
Meanwhile, Ayer Tetteh Kofi Zando, Assemblymember for Odumase-South Electoral Area has also been elected by the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly as its new Presiding Member.
His election follows the death of the former PM, Hon Benjamin Awuley Mensah who died in July 2021.
Mr. Zando who stood unopposed polled 40 votes out of 47 members of the house including Assembly members, the MCE, MP, and government appointees to successfully attain the mandatory two-thirds of the votes of the membership of the entire Assembly, in line with Article 244 (1) of the 1992 Constitution.
