The immediate past Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Free Zones Authority, GFZA, Michael Okyere Baafi has expressed gratitude to President Akufo Addo and Alan Kyeremanteng Minister of Trade and Industries for the opportunity and support provided him when serving as CEO.
Mr.Okyere Baafi resigned from his position as CEO having been elected Member of Parliament for New Juaben South hence on January 4, 2021, held a staff solemn durbar to bid them farewell.
Mr.Baafi acknowledged that “I am most grateful to H.E Nana Akufo-Addo for the appointment. My sincerest gratitude also goes to my Minister-Hon. Alan Kyeremateng, the entire Board, management, and staff for their advice, guidance, and unflinching support given me”
He said “though downhearted, I look back to the four policies agenda I set when I assumed office four years ago. The four key policies agenda were;
•Improve Service Quality
•Open up the Free Zones Concepts
•Capacity Building
•Improving Staff attitude to work
Gracefully, all have been actualized. I look back with smiles at the opportunities given to every staff to partake in international trade missions, the institutionalization of an annual investment week concept and Quarterly meetings with Free zones Companies”
Okyere Baafi emotionally said ” I leave today, I believe that the next Chief Executive Officer of the Authority will continue with the works that I initiated with the management team’s help. I love you all, I came in peace, and I leave in peace”.
The astute Chartered Marketer was ranked best-performing CEO by FAKS in 2018 and ranked the best performing Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by Asempa FM’s “Ekosii Sen” political program in 2019.
Mr.Okyere Baafi was elected Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency in the just ended Parliamentary and Presidential elections and expected to be sworn-in in Parliament on January 6, 2021.
