Mr Michael Okyere Baafi, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), and an aspiring parliamentary candidate of the New Juabeng South constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has vowed to change the face of politics in Koforidua especially his constituency when he becomes the parliamentary candidate and eventually wins the polls in December 2020.
He affirmed his resolve to work with all the stakeholders in the New Juabeng South Constituency in order to change the face of politics in the area.
According to him, the constituency has a lot of challenges which have remained unsolved hence, if he becomes the parliamentary candidate and eventually wins the polls in December 2020, he will lobby the government to bring development to the area.
He said working better at the floor of parliament and neglecting those who voted for you to become an MP is nothing good, rather you ought to help your constituents through developmental projects and work assiduously at the floor of parliament as well.
“Doing well at the parliament is not the only thing you need, besides parliament didn’t vote for you but your constituents voted for you, so if you are not able to please them or trying to meet their needs not necessarily given them money but being there for them, no matter who you are they will obviously push you out when the time comes” he noted.
“I’m not the MP but I do a lot in the constituency, meeting polling station executives, constituency executives and helping the less privilege, I’m always there for the party structures,” he said.
Mr Okyere Baafi further noted that although the government is trying hard to provide jobs for all unemployed youth, there are still jobless people in the system. He said he will ensure that these people are employed.
He added: “There are some challenges in the constituency. Koforidua, for example, has some bad roads that I will ensure are fixed when voted for”.
“The youth, who are unemployed, as well as our party executives in the constituency, will not be abounded.”
Mr Okyere Baafi noted that he will ensure all the party executives in the constituency are brought on board to take part in the development of the constituency if he eventually becomes the law maker for the area.
He assured that the entire constituency especially the party’s executives won’t be left out in his plans.
