The Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) monitoring and evaluation team (GalamSTOP) has arrested one Chinese illegal miner alongside a gold washing carpet, one (1) cylinder and thirty-six (36) gallons of diesel.
This came to light when the IMCIM conducted a routine operation in the environs of Fomena in Adansi North District, Ashanti Region on Monday, January 6, 2020.
The said exhibits including the Chinese suspect have since been handed over to the Dompoasi District police command for prosecution. On-site was one (1) broken down XCMG excavator without swinging motto and other vital parts.
The operation led by the head of the taskforce, Francis Assibi Abu, therefore, urged the public to volunteer information to help weed such characters from the system.
