Mybrytfmonline.com sources indicate that one of the accused persons among Western Togoland secessionists arrested in connection with the recent disturbance in the Volta Region has died in Police Custody.
The cause of death is not known.
The family of the deceased is yet to be informed about the incident.
On September 25, 2020, the Western Togoland Separatists attacked Police stations and blocked major entry roads to the Volta Region creating a state of chaos.
Members of the Separatists took away about 17 weapons from Police and shot some officers including a Commander.
The items including at least two rifles wrapped in a black plastic bag were dug out of the ground where they had been hidden after the arrest of some of the suspects.
Already, 14 ‘AK-47’ rifles, 3 pump-action guns, 1 pistol, a shotgun, and some other weapons were also retrieved from the exercise by the security agencies.
