The New Patriotic Party (NPP) secretary for Nhyiaeso Constituency Kumasi, Michel Essel-Mills has stated categorically that only irresponsible parents can’t afford to buy a nose mask for their children.
According to him, if Parents and guardians are looking forward to the government giving their children Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) as a preventive measure to limit the deadly pandemic coronavirus, then they should be shameful of their attitude.
“Those parents are just irresponsible. You smoke, drink alcoholic beverages, and booze, but you claim you cannot buy one cedi nose mask for your child to study. …. That is a shame,” Michael Essel-Mills fumed.
Some parents are blaming the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the government over the delay in the distributions of PPEs to some schools after assurances from the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the latter state of the nation’s address to Ghanaians.
Speaking on a Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, the Constituency Secretary of the governing NPP urged parents and guardians to assist the government in the fight against the pandemic.
“Government alone can’t provide PPE. Individuals, philanthropists can all help. At least if Nose masks and veronica buckets are not ready in our schools, we can buy some for them”, Mr Michael Essel-Mills
Mr Michael also said the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians, especially parents of their wards’ safety as they return to acquire knowledge in school.
