Dear Hajia Kande,
Our elders say, “He who goes to a funeral with a thumb, is escorted with a slap”. The creation of Abuakwa North Constituency in the wisdom of the framers of the Constitution was to facilitate the progress and development of the towns that fall within its demarcation.
The constituency has been blessed with dedicated, hardworking and outstanding MP’s since its creation. The late Hon. J. B. Danquah-Adu, may his soul rest in peace. He, even though demised remains if not the most admired, one of the best MP’s this constituency will ever have. Professor Amoako did his bit but failed on a second term bid.
The “DELEGATES” whom we all know go in for the highest bidder showed him the exit and brought J. B back until his untimely death. A sad moment that catapulted you into political limelight on a silver platter as the NDC did not contest, on grounds of sympathy.
J. B was a unifier; he was the people’s man. He held no grudges; it was through J. B that well known NDC members defected to NPP, it was him, the one that paved the way for you!! May his soul continue to rest well as you, the party and government’s lack of interest in the pursuit of his killers rubbishes your unsubstantiated claims when in opposition.
Hon. J. B in his second term bid had not only fallen out with delegates of the constituency but Tafoman where he hailed from. We are all aware of the Mafia Tactics which was employed by the Party in taking out names of persons perceived as anti-JB.
The outcome of the Anyinasin congress took Prof to Parliament, not because of the TV sets, Fridges, Wax Prints and monies shared to delegates and persons of interest at obscure locations as J. B could have surpassed his “gift” package. Prof had good human relation, his words were calm, and he respected every Tom dick and Harry. Can the same be said about you?
Your popularity has waned, you are not the Hajia Kande we knew, and indeed you are a mirage of the change we voted for. One can argue about decentralization being the bedrock of local governance but what is Abuakwa North without TAFO??
Population, voting pattern (which favour the NPP), Hospitality, schools, and businesses make Tafo the focal point of every election, political and administrative planning so, the neglect of the town that gave you majority of its vote is now an open secret, an action that will bruise your bid for a second term to Parliament.
Tafo is the “Bantama” of Abuakwa North. This, the president of Ghana commended in his last rally of the constituency. The people of Tafo deserve more than just empty rhetoric. The least form of gratitude that can be given them is their fair share of the national cake if you can’t repay them in full. “You don’t steal from your in-laws when you can’t give them any” as our elders say.
“MP is not responsible for the construction of roads” “It is not the duty of MP to see that abandoned projects are resuscitated” “It is not the duty of MPs to build classrooms” that sayeth your apologist. If so, what will be your campaign message? Hon., Fix TAFO roads now!! (I have seen ongoing works on the “New Road”) Is it not strange how materials for the new street lights got out of stock when the contractor reached (Akyem Old and New Tafo)?
Thanks to REGIMANUEL, a stretch of our road got tarred. I pray for other benevolent citizens of Tafo to come to the aid of the town.
As you pick forms to contest the primaries, just know that the people of Tafo and its associates especially the Youth have lost hope in you. You have a chance to print your name amongst the great men who restored hope and glory to Akyem Tafo, it is not late, and you still have time.
