Technical and Planning advisor, Kwame Boateng has urged Ghanaians to effectively participate in the “operation cleans your frontage” exercise which was launched by Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council.
According to him, though as Ghanaians we pay levies for sanitation, we can’t rely solely on the government to clean up our environment for us, hence we must all collectively work towards making our environment clean.
“It is just like the health insurance, sometimes it works other times too you have to pay to save your life so the fact that we pay for these things doesn’t mean we can’t also work to make our environments better”, he added.
Speaking in an interview with Abena Opokua Ahwenee on Dadi 101.1 FM, he stressed that sometimes the levies we pay are not even used for the purposes for which they’re paid.
He also highlighted that the effectiveness of this operation is very important because most of the time we make laws concerning sanitation but they are never executed.
“This initiative is very good but my problem is, will it materialize? Because we need to keep our environments clean thus this shouldn’t remain as just an initiative “
Speaking in regards to the same issue, Hon. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, the Chief Executive of EPA encouraged the citizens of this country must work towards this operation because it is to our benefit.
“This operation will help every citizen hence the need for our maximum participation in this exercise”, he said.
According to him, it’s time we take on issues of sanitation in the country for a better Ghana.
