The Right to Information Commission has earlier Monday morning paid a courtesy to the Regional Minister of the Oti Region, Hon. Joshua Makubu, at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council.
The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Yaw Sarpong Boateng Esq., indicated that the Commission is in the Oti Region as parts of its mandate to promote, protect, monitor and enforce the right of access to the information given to persons under Article 21 (1)(f) of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.
Yaw Sarpong Boateng added that, in view of the Commission’s mandate, the Commission has come to Oti Region to educate the public, to know their rights and obligations under the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989) and hence the Commission deems it fit to officially call on the Minister to inform him of the presence of the Commission.
He added the visit also invited the minister for the public lecture to be held today, 18th July 2022 at the Dambai College of Education, Dambai in the Oti Region in the afternoon.
The Chief Director, Alhaji M. A. Azonko, who on behalf of the Regional Minister received the Commission, conveyed the Minister’s welcome message to the Commission and assured that the Oti Regional Coordinating Council will at all times make sure they aid in the smooth implementation of Act 989 in the Oti Region.
