The Vice president, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has handed over relief items to the bereaved families of the river Oti boat tragedy, which claimed fifteen lives.
The gesture was a demonstration of the government’s commitment to supporting those affected by the disaster.
The relief items include, 200 life jackets, 4 bile of second hand clothing, 70 carton of frytol, 100 bags of rice, 10 carton of soaps, 100 bile of mosquito nets and GHC 200,000.
The fifteen victims were part of twenty-one mouners in a boat who lost their lives on the Afram river on their way to a funeral over the weekend.
The families of the deceased expressed gratitude to the Vice President and government for the intervention but called for action to ensure such disaster is prevented in the future.
