Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba, a former Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection Minister have urged eligible voters for today’s District Level Election to consider all women and persons with disabilities.
According to her, the time is ripe for women and PWDs to be given the chance and elected assembly and unit committee members, to champion the growth and development of their local assemblies.
Speaking on an Accra based Television, the former National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Afisa Djaba said in 2015, a total of 1,700 women contested and only 280 won and in 2019,909 women are in the race whilst 20 persons with disabilities are also contesting.
The Henry Djaba Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO), leader urged the electorates to vote massively for female candidates and PWDs.
The election would start at 0700 hours and end at 1700 hours at all polling stations.
