Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), claims that the party’s 24-Hour Economy strategy will address some of the economic issues plaguing the economy and provide jobs for young people.
As part of her three-day campaign visit of the Central Region, she spoke to members of the NDC Professionals Forum at the University of Cape Coast on Monday.
She said that Ghana is in dire need of a speedy remedy since it is bankrupt.
“We don’t have money, our currency is where it is heading to, which is not a good place, we can’t pay our debt and we are in a crisis worse than we imagined”, the NDC’s Running Mate said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stated that the National Apprenticeship Program and the NDC’s 24-Hour Economy strategy are immediate solutions given the high unemployment rate in the nation.
She pointed out that the decision to introduce the 24-hour economy and provide respectable jobs for Ghanaians was made because of the high unemployment rate in the nation, which is giving NDC Flagbearer John Dramani Mahama nightmares.
“Some people claiming to be economists are deliberately saying it won’t work and the NDC hasn’t thought through it well. But interestingly, the same people are now saying, their government is already implementing the policy”, she said.
She also called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to inform Ghanaians of its potential benefits, pointing out that political campaigns are really about exchanging ideas.
She further exhorted the NPP to desist from spreading misinformation, stating that “one Cedi, two Cedis mobile phones” do not constitute a policy.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang called on Ghanaians to cast a large number of ballots for Mr. John Dramani Mahama in the general elections on December 7th so that he may fulfill his pledge to provide jobs for the hordes of unemployed youth.
