Our Lady of Grace Senior High School in Mamponteng in Ashanti Region held a candlelight vigil to mourn the tragic loss of Zakiu Mohammed, an alumnus and third-year pharmacy student at the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale.
Zakiu was fatally stabbed on September 25, 2024, in an uncompleted building near the UDS campus, leaving the school community devastated.
Students, staff, and alumni gathered to honor his memory, lighting candles to symbolize the light he brought into their lives.
Zakiu was remembered for his academic promise, kindness, and humility.
The vigil provided a space for the students to unite in grief, prayer, and support.
Zakiu Mohammed will be remembered for the lasting impact he had on those who knew him.
His death has raised concerns about student safety on campus as investigations into the incident continue.
