The Koforidua High Court has ruled in favor of independent candidate Mr. Kwadjo Asante in the ongoing 2024 Suhum Municipal Assembly election petition, granting him permission to subpoena two witnesses and add an additional one.
The ruling, delivered on Thursday, September 25, 2025, followed arguments from both parties after the petitioner requested more time to conclude his submissions. The court agreed, noting that the petitioner had not fully completed presenting his case.
During the proceedings, reference was made to the cross-examination that took place on Wednesday, September 24, between Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe and Mr. Asante. The court confirmed that a subpoena had already been identified in the petitioner’s checklist, clearing the way for the additional witnesses to be summoned.
Representing the parties in court were Lawyer Akua Emily Asantewaa for the NPP, Lawyer Protozoa, and Lawyer Henry Sangmor for the independent candidate, Mr. Asante.
Lawyer George Krufai Addai, summarizing the court’s ruling, announced that the case—which was initially scheduled for October 13—has been adjourned to October 15, 2025, to allow the processes to be filed.
