The outgoing Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Ghana, H.E. Michael Wimmer, paid a farewell call on the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum – Sarpong at the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday 7th June, 2023.
During the meeting, H.E. Wimmer acknowledged the Government and People of Ghana for the immense support he received during his tenure which helped to deepen the relations between the two countries.
He commended Ghana for cooperating with the Government of Belgium in various fields of mutual interest specifically in economic trade relations.
On his part, Hon. Kwaku Amptratwum-Sarpong commended the outgoing Ambassador for his contribution to strengthening the bilateral relations between Ghana and Belgium during his tour of duty and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in all fields of mutual interest.
He expressed appreciation for the support Ghana received from Belgium leading to its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the January 2022 to December 2023 term.
The Deputy Minister applauded the Government of Belgium for extending support to Ghana in the areas of Education, Agriculture, Health and Port Management and Operations. Hon. Ampratwum entreated the outgoing Ambassador to continue to advocate Ghana’s interests wherever he may find himself and wished him well in his future endeavors.
