Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, George Mireku-Duker together with the Minister for Youth and Sports, Western Regional Minister, Officials of Goldfields Ghana Limited and Nananom has commissioned the 10,400-seater TNA Stadium, funded at a cost of US$16.2 million by the Goldfields Foundation.
This historic moment brings joy, seeing an idea the MP conceived and initiated, getting the necessary support for the benefit of his people.
Together with six (6) Astroturfs the MP have constructed in the Constituency, Tarkwa-Nsuaem is now a key sports infrastructure hub in the country to unearth talent and contribute to socio-economic development.
“My vision is that, Tarkwa cannot be a victim of the natural resources curse, but rather, we will, as stakeholders ensure that, Mineral wealth, through corporate social responsibilities of the Mining Companies and Government, is invested in critical infrastructure and job opportunities for the teeming youth, having in mind that, the mineral is non-renewable, and sustainability is key”.
“I am humbled by the commendations by all constituents on my significant role in the establishment of the beautiful TNA stadium”.
“I have further, initiated the formation of a consortium of Mining Companies in Tarkwa to build synergies towards the construction of a befitting Airport for the good people of Tarkwa, this when completed will boost trade and tourism potentials of the Municipality” Hon Mireku-Duker stated.
The deputy Lands and Natural Resources Minister pledged to continue delivering cutting-edge developmental agenda for his people.
