A total of 47,019 Registered Voters are expected to exercise their Franchise to elect a successor of Mercy Adu Gyamfi Bello popularly known as AmaSey in the Akwatia Constituency of the Eastern Region.
The Constituency has 177 Polling Stations and only two Political Parties are in the Parliamentary Race, namely, New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress.
The New Patriotic Party candidate is Mr. Ernest Yaw Kumi, a 35-year-old Security and Compliance Expect and a 51-year-old Businessman, Mr. Henry Boakye Yiadom.
Mercy Adu Gyamfi Bello popularly known as AmaSey who is the first female Member of Parliament in the Constituency won the seat for the NPP in 2016 with 21,433 votes against NDC’s Lawyer Mohammed Ahmed Baba Jamal who pulled 15,905 votes.
