The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has ended its five-day Public Hearing in Sunyani after considering the Auditor-General’s Reports on Pre-University Educational Institutions, Utilisation of District Assemblies Common Fund, IGF, and other Statutory Funds for the year ended 31st December 2018 in the Ashanti, Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions.
From the beginning of the Committee’s Public Hearing on the 2018 Auditor-General’s Reports, more than 100 Assemblies and Schools have been listed for prosecution by the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice while others have also paid to Government for unearned salaries, no rent payment, and misappropriation of funds.
Whereas some Municipal, District Assemblies, and Schools were cited for six (6) or more infractions by the Auditor-General, others were questioned on only one infraction.
According to the Chairman, the Committee is looking forward to the day when infractions in various Assemblies, schools, and Government institutions would be reduced to the lowest level.
Some of the schools in the Bono East and Ahafo Regions that appeared before the Committee includes, Kintampo SHS, Yefiriman SHS, Yeboah Asuama SHS, Techiman SHS, St. Francis Seminary SHS, and Kwame Danso SHS. The rest were Prang SHS, Boakye Tromo SHS, Dega SHS, Nkoranza SHTS, Kwabre SHS and Bechem Presby SHS.
The Municipal and District Assemblies in the Bono East and Ahafo regions that were cited in the reports were Sene East, Sene West, Atebubu Amantin, Kintampo North, Kintampo South, Nkoranza North, Pru East, Pru West, Techiman, Dormaa East, Dormaa Central, Dormaa West, Berekum East, Tain, Wenchi, Sunyani, Jaman North and Adansi Asokwa in the Ashanti Region.
The Committee is expected to begin its Southern Zone (Central Region, Western Region, and Western North Region) Public Hearing on Monday 8th to Saturday 14th May 2022.
