The Member of Parliament-elect for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), will be officially sworn into office today, Tuesday, July 22, 2025, by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin.
Her induction follows a hard-fought victory in a parliamentary rerun in the Ablekuma North constituency. The rerun became necessary after the Electoral Commission (EC) annulled the original results of the December 2024 parliamentary election, citing electoral irregularities and the submission of unauthenticated pink sheets.
The EC’s decision to withhold the initial results came amid complaints from multiple stakeholders regarding discrepancies in vote tallies, unsigned result sheets, and procedural breaches during the collation process. The rerun was conducted across 19 polling stations.
Aubynn’s swearing-in will officially mark the end of months of uncertainty over representation in the constituency.
