The Data Management Department of the Parliamentary Service of Ghana organized a workshop to review the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Parliament of Ghana and the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), as well as the draft Data Sharing Policy over the weekend.
The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration aimed at enhancing Parliament’s ability to produce and utilize legislative, procedural, and administrative data and statistics, while ensuring the timely provision of data from the Ghana Statistical Service.
The Open Data Policy, central to the Open Government Partnership, emphasizes that data should be freely accessible to the public for use and redistribution.
In support of this, the Data Management Department is developing an Interactive User Interface to allow the public to access, visualize, and download datasets related to parliamentary activities.
As part of this initiative, a draft Data Sharing Policy has been developed.
This policy outlines the conditions and formats for releasing parliamentary data to users in a clear and understandable manner.
It is aligned with Principles 4 and 5 of the African Charter on Statistics, which address data accessibility, confidentiality, and assurance.
The Data Management Department extends its gratitude to @ACEPA for laying the groundwork for a strong working relationship between the Parliament of Ghana and the Ghana Statistical Service.
The Department is also thankful to the @Ghana Statistical Service for their continued support.
