The Speaker of Parliament has been jabbed of not being in control of the affairs of the House, thereby creating unnecessary tensions that could have been avoided.
Member of Parliament for Sefwi Akontombra constituency Alex Tetteh Djornubuah made the assertion when reacting to a statement made by the Speaker on Wednesday when he had an encounter with the media.
The Speaker, responding a question as to whether MPs would be sitting at their usual places before the suspension of the House, said, he could not tell since he has no authority as to where MPs sit.
However, the Second Deputy Majority Chief Whip stressed that the Speaker could have just answered the question holistically per the Supreme court order but failed to do so.
When asked of where the NPP MPs would be sitting, the MP replied he cannot tel until they get to the House this morning.
Parliament will convey today, Thursday, November 6 after a short indefinite suspension after a Supreme Court ruling of stay of execution on an earlier pronouncement of the Speaker declaring four seats vacant.
