The Parliamentary select Committee on Employment and Labour Relations and Pensions has embarked on a working visit to selected institutions in the Western Region, as part of its oversight responsibilities
Members of the Committee toured Ghana Manganese Company Limited, AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mines, and Gold Fields Tarkwa Damang Mines.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the implementation of employment policies, verify compliance with national labour laws, and examine working conditions and pensions-related issues.
The Committee commended the companies for their significant contributions to national economic development and their impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly within the mining communities and surrounding areas.
They emphasized the importance of continued adherence to labour standards and encouraged them to promote gender equality and inclusivity in their recruitment processes, including the consideration of persons with disabilities.
