The Eastern Regional Minister, Honourable Eric Kwakye Daffour has called on residents in the region to participate in upcoming National activities which included National Identification Authority Registration for National Card.
He said Parliament has approved the budget for Electoral Commission to compile new register as the National Population Council is also set for Population Census and urged all Ghanaians, especially those in his region to participate and cooperate accordingly.
Mr. Eric Kwakye Daffour said this in a telephone interview with mybrytfmonline reporter, Kofi Atakora.
The Minister said he inherited chieftaincy disputes and land litigation but he said the Regional coordinating council is managing Peace and Security and there is no tension in the region.
According to the Minister who doubles as Member of Parliament for Nkawkwa Constituency lauded Chief Executives in the District and Municipal Assemblies in the region for their dedicated service and commended the president for giving the region’s share in National cake, adding, although there are challenges in the region there is hope in 2020.
He also commended the president for taking bold decision to introduce free Senior High School policy and said there are about two to four different projects ongoing in some Schools in the region which included classroom blocks, Dormitories and other.
The minister said the region has 97 Senior High Schools so far and enrollment increased by 56% in 2017/18 academic year in the region alone over the introduction of free policy and about 200,000 people are benefiting now.
