Rwanda’s president, Paul Kagame, has been endorsed by two of the oldest political parties in the country, the Liberal Party and the Social Democratic Party.
The two join four smaller political parties, which are already in a coalition with the ruling RPF. Kagame, 66, who has ruled Rwanda for decades, has won the presidency in three consecutive elections with over 90% of the vote.
Critics accuse him of ruling in a climate of fear that stifles dissent and free speech. Rwanda will hold presidential and parliamentary polls on July 15.
