Barima Okogyeatuo Agyemang, Adontenhene of Dormaa traditional area has appealed to the government to expand and decentralize COVID-19 testing centers and make them free to enable mass testing across the country.
According to the chief, the pandemic is ravaging therefore the country should not take chances. He, therefore, suggested if free mass testing is conducted among the population, the country will be able to identify early those infected with the virus for quarantine and treatment to curb the further spread.
He said the current cost of testing and unavailability of testing centers in many parts of the country discourages people who feel unwell and wish to test for the virus.
The Chief made the appeal when the IGP, James Oppong Buanu donated three motorbikes to Dormaa Aboabo Salvation Army SHS, Ghana Health Service, and the Ghana Police Service to augment their services.
Charles Oppong Gyabaa who presented the motorbikes on behalf of the IGP said the three motorbikes are to aid the facilities to deliver swift and quality services to the people.
Meanwhile, Barima Yeboah Kodie, Dormaa Aduanahene on behalf of the beneficiary institutions commended the IGP for his kind gesture.
He urged all indigenes of Dormaa to emulate to also return to support the township to develop.
