Awuah Dankwa Education Foundation (ADEF) has donated quantities of personal protective equipment (PPEs), personal hygiene substances as well as over 5000 educational materials to six (6) Basic Schools in Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region.
The beneficiary schools – Akyem Bomaa Presby Primary School, Akyem Bomaa DA Junior High School, Abomosu Presby Primary School, Abomosu Presby Junior High School, Kwabeng Presby Primary School, and Kwabeng Presby Junior High School were supplied with a total of 60 gallons of alcohol-based hand sanitizer, 300 pieces of bottled hand sanitizer, several packs of tissue papers and over 800 pieces of nose masks.
The Schools also received learning materials including over 5,000 exercise books, drawing books, textbooks, storybooks, packets of pencils, pens, crayons, and dictionaries.
Donating the items to the schools at separate events, a Philanthropist who is the Founder of Awuah Dankwa Education Foundation, Mr. Samuel Awuah Dankwa said, the PPEs and the quantities of sanitizer supplied to the school are to help meet the exigencies of the Covid-19 prevention in schools in the district.
He said learning in an environment of a global pandemic requires support to spur the morale of school children.
He encouraged the school children ” to rise above any difficulties they may be facing now and apply themselves fully to their academic work, be obedient to their parents and teachers and that by doing so, will grow to become useful citizens to their community and Ghana”.
Mr. Awuah Dankwa informed the pupils and teachers that the foundation would continue to support brilliant but needy students to pursue their education to the tertiary education level and therefore they should work harder to take advantage of this opportunity.
He pledged to extend such gestures to all schools in the Atiwa West District periodically.
Speaking on the mission of the Awuah Dankwa Education Foundation, Mr. Dankwa said,” the foundation is here to drive the development of Atiwa West and other parts of the country through education by providing the needed support to educate the underprivileged children in the district”
On her part, the Queen-mother of Akyem Bomaa, Nana Dr. Boatemaa Korama commended the foundation for donation.
Nana Dr. Boatemaa Korama who is a lecturer at the University of Ghana used her academic feat to challenge the pupils to persevere regardless of the circumstance to pursue their academic goals by taking advantage of Free Senior High School Policy to propel their academic journey.
“I want to see more Doctors, Engineers, Teachers, and Entrepreneurs emerge from this district in the next few years to take up the mantle of development in Ghana”, the Queen Mother said.
She urged the pupils to adhere to the Covid-19 preventive protocols and also advised the teachers to give off their best.
The CEO of the Foundation, Mr. Richmond Amoako said the Foundation will soon complete a library project for the community to enhance the reading skill of children in the area.
