27 passengers have been reportedly burnt to death in an accident on the Kintampo-Tamale stretch of the highway in the Brong Ahafo region.
The accident occurred Monday morning involving a sprinter and Yutong buses, according to DSP Francis Adjei Brobey Kintampo MTTD Police commander in an interview on Dadi 10.1FM with Abena Pokua Ahwenee.
According to DSP Francis Adjei Brobey said the Metro Mass Bus which was carrying sacks of fresh pepper and passengers and heading towards Kintampo from Tamale, collided head-on with the Sprinter between Kawampe and Dawadawa at about 4:00am Monday.
“The bodies are burnt beyond recognition. It is difficult to even make them out especially to separate men from women. Both drivers are dead, some still trapped in the vehicle,” he told Abena Pokua Ahwenee on Dadi FM Morning show ‘Efa Wo Ho’.
The sprinter, according to him, drove into the lane of the Yutong causing the accident.
