The Ghana National Fire Service in Nkawkaw has begun an investigation into the cause of domestic fire that killed a 70-year-old Landlord and his 12-year-old grandson.
The blaze that razed down a three-bedroom apartment is highly suspected to have been caused by an electrical fault.
According to an eyewitness, Afua Serwaa, who is a tenant in the house, the fire started around 9pm Tuesday, February 18, 2020 but alleges officials of GNFS responded belatedly to their distress calls with inadequate water in the fire tender.
Kwaku Kwakye, one of the rescuers told Bryt News, it was hectic for them to enter the room but managed to rescue the Wife of the deceased 70-year-old Samuel Simpeh who was screaming for help in a different room.
Stephen Ankoma Anim, Assembly Member for the Domeabra Electoral area, saddened by the death of his predecessor, urged residents in the Electoral area to be safety cautious this dry season to prevent domestic fire outbreak.
The Wife of the deceased rescued and admitted at the Agyarkwa Hospital, is, however, responding to treatment.
