The Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) of the Pentecost International Worship Center (PIWC), Koforidua, has donated food items, toiletries, sachet water, and other essentials to the Koforidua Local Prisons as part of efforts to support the welfare and reformation of inmates.
During the donation and fellowship with the prisoners, the Chaplain of the facility, Reverend ASP Samuel Bintu, expressed appreciation to the church for the gesture and revealed that the prison chaplaincy is undertaking a project to construct a Counselling Unit and Library for the inmates.
He explained that the initiative is intended to support the psychological and academic needs of the prisoners, particularly those pursuing Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) programs and preparing for their examinations.
Rev. Bintu appealed to churches, individuals, groups, and institutions to assist with building materials such as cement, sand, and iron rods to complete the project.
Resident Minister of PIWC-Koforidua, Pastor Theodore Ashia, reaffirmed the Church of Pentecost’s commitment to prison reforms, noting that the church has built various facilities across the country to enhance the rehabilitation of inmates.
He further encouraged society to support ex-convicts when reintegrated into communities, stressing that they deserve a second chance at life.
“In the church, we have a ministry for ex-offenders. When they return, we try to help them integrate into society. Families and communities should rest assured that they have gone through correction,” Pastor Ashia stated.
