The Akuapem South Constituency Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, Michael Ahwireng, has advised all sitting members of Parliament of the party to place the interest of the party above their parochial self-aggrandizement interests ahead of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary election to secure victory.
According to him, the actions and inactions of some sitting MPs right from the polling station elections threaten the unity of the party.
He drew attention that, the same things happened before the 2020 election which led to apathy, reduced the party’s votes, and led to the loss of some members of Parliament hence the hung Parliament which is creating challenges for the government in passing bills.
He said breaking the eight (8) shouldn’t be just a slogan but a reality if the party puts its house in order with clear plans and measures.
Michael Ahwireng said this when he was speaking to some party leaders and delegates of the NPP in the Constituency at Aburi as part of plans to seek reelection as constituency chairman.
He appealed to the MPs not to attempt to influence the outcome of the internal elections with money but allow the delegates to decide and elect competent and hard-working executives to lead the party in the Constituency.
Michael Ahwireng assured that he will continue to lead the NPP in Akuapem South to be formidable, attractive to Garner more votes for the party in 2024 to help the party win power.
He finally called on aspirants of the Constituency executive elections and their supporters to desist from using foul language and indecent campaign strategies to help maintain unity before, during, and after the election.
Nominations for constituency executive positions of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) open today [Tuesday, April 19, 2022] and end tomorrow.
The positions to be contested from April 28 to May 2, 2022, are the Constituency Chairperson, the first Constituency Vice Chairperson, the second Constituency Vice Chairperson, the Constituency Secretary, the Constituency Assistant Secretary; the Constituency Treasurer, the Constituency Organiser, the Constituency Women Organiser, the Constituency Youth Organiser, and the Constituency Nasara Coordinator.
