The People’s National Convention (PNC) will hold its national congress today, September 30, 2020, to elect National Executives and flagbearer for December polls.
It will be held simultaneously in all the 16 regions in accordance with the COVID-19 preventive protocols.
A collation centre will be created in Accra where the results from the various regions will be collated and declared by the Electoral Commission on the same day.
A total of 31 aspirants are battling for 13 positions and the Party has vetted all aspirants seeking election to national executive positions.
The PNC has contested all national elections since the inception of the fourth republic apart from the 1992 parliamentary election.
Five persons had so far indicated their readiness to contest the PNC flag bearership, the sources indicated.
They include Reverend Samuel Adjei-Debrah, Mr Aasaki Samson Awingobit, Mr Emmanuel Anyidoho, a running mate of the party in 2016, and a former PNC Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Mr David Apasara.
The fifth aspirant, Professor George Agbango, who is based in the United States, is said to have fallen out because of the restrictions on travelling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
