The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects involved in a complex car theft scam in Kasoa, Central Region. Douglas Kwame Akunnor, Emmanuel Aduah, and Richard Baidoo were caught stealing an unregistered Hyundai Elantra (2021 model) from a businessman.
The scam involved a fake purchase, with suspects using a counterfeit cheque to get the car. The complainant was left out of pocket after the suspects withdrew the money and went into hiding.
Police investigations led to the arrest of the suspects, and the car was recovered at Nsakina with a fake registration plate. The mastermind, Albert Akwasi Ofori, is still at large, but police are on his tail.
The Ofaakor Circuit Court remanded the suspects and ordered them to reappear on January 28, 2026. The police assure the public that all accomplices will face justice.
