The Ghana Police Service in Koforidua has arrested several suspects in connection with human trafficking, assault, prostitution-related offences, and the keeping of a brothel, contrary to Sections 84, 277, 273, and 274 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), and Section 3 of the Human Trafficking Act, 2005 (Act 694).
The arrests followed a complaint lodged on Thursday, 6 February 2026, at about 7:35 p.m. by a 30-year-old Nigerian national, Stella Godwill, a commercial sex worker residing at Nsukwao in Koforidua. She alleged that she was trafficked from Nigeria to Ghana by her mistress, Christabel Simon Monday, also a Nigerian national, for the purpose of prostitution.
According to the complainant, she was required to meet a daily sales target of GH₵400 from prostitution activities. On the said date, she reportedly made GH₵250 due to poor patronage. This amount was allegedly rejected by her mistress and her boyfriend, Simon Kwarteng, who subsequently assaulted her.
Upon receiving the complaint, Police commenced investigations and proceeded to Dabiasem in Koforidua, where Christabel Simon Monday was arrested. Further investigations led officers to a brothel facility allegedly operated by Omari Gyamfi. At the premises, twelve (12) additional Nigerian females were found, including a 15-year-old minor.
The persons found at the brothel were identified as:
Princess Sebastian – 15 years (minor)
