Over two hundred people in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region are to be registered under the National Health Insurance Scheme ( NHIS) for free.
Sargeant Krumah Daniel a police officer in Bibiani District Police Command paid for the registration as part of support to celebrate his birthday and to deliver quality health care.
In an interview with Hamza Mohammed, he said he is doing this to have more of the people captured under the scheme who can have access to quality healthcare and to prevent absenteeism in schools.
He also visited Bibiani Lineso Children’s Home and handover undisclosed amount of money in an envelope to support their daily activities.
He, therefore, streesed that this will come as relief to parents who find it difficult registering their children onto the NHIS.
Mr.Osei Owusu Adomako, the District Manager of the NHIS hinted that the National Health Insurance Scheme is committed to achieving the United Nation’s Universal Health coverage by 2030 hence is resolved to enroll more of the people onto the scheme.
He lauded Sergeant Nkrumah Daniel for accepting to freely enroll people onto the scheme. He called on individuals and institutions to also come on board to make the project a success.
He entreated more people to register onto the scheme to improve access to healthcare.
Bibiani Lineso Children’s Home manager Pastor Kofi Boateng and some beneficiaries of the free NHIS registration on the first day were full of excitement.
They thanked the police officer for the gesture saying it will go a long way to ensure easy access to healthcare.
They prayed to God to add more ages to his age.
