Madam Akua Donkor who happened to be the founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has categorically stated that people should stop tagging police officers as bribe-takers in the country and that bribe-taking isn’t a crime.
According to her, she doesn’t understand why people call police officers as bribe-takers while people who work at various offices take a huge sum of money from people as a bribe but people do not term them as bribe takers.
So the meagre amounts such as GHS1, and GHS2 that Police officers take from drivers is nothing compared to the large amounts others take.
“That is not bribed, people take a lot of money in Ghana as a bribe but police take GHS1, GHS2 and you call it to bribe. Something is worrying those who think that is a bribe. They should continue taking the money. So how can we call that bribe? Nothing is wrong with it.”, she stated firmly.
