The welfare of police officers across the country remains the topmost priority of the Ghana Police Service under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. James Oppong Boanu.
Head of the Public Relations Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, ACP David Eklu said, the IGP, since his appointment has visited officers in the rural areas to ascertain their challenges and find solutions to them.
“One of the topmost priorities of the IGP is to see to the welfare of our offices. Because any good leader is expected to fight for the wellbeing of its staff, to enable them to perform better” he emphasized.
ACP Eklu added that ensuring professionalism in officers is also a headache of the IGP as a lot is being done to achieve the said objective.
He insisted the police should be able to perform its duties professionally to gain the trust of civilians at all times.
“We have a number out there which allows civilians to report officers who misconduct themselves in line with their duties so we can take the necessary action against them. We also, ask the public to inform us of officers acting professionally so we can honor them as such” ACP David Eklu stated.
On the performance of the police force within the year, ACP David Eklu mentioned that, despite some challenges his outfit encountered, he is certain security has been improved in the country considering what transpired in other countries.
He, therefore, appealed to the public to continue to assist the police with necessary information to help curb crime in the country.
