Professor of English and Linguistics at the University of Education, Winneba, Prof Yaw Sakyi, has emphasized that, the government starts with good ideas but politics messes things up.
“Government always starts with good intentions but it tends to bad intentions when politics come to ruin it”. He stated
Speaking to Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney, Prof. Sakyi stated that the government comes with politics, as do those behind it.
He pointed to Ghana’s Health Insurance scheme, a great concept when the government issued it, but politics got in the way. He cited an example which he said at first when someone is going to give birth, they don’t pay attention to the person when the person doesn’t have money, so it was a nice idea but then the party behind always took it into politics.
According to him, instead of the leaders putting their all into the things they are issuing and giving it to the experts to handle, they turn to use it as politics
“Leaders should let experts handle things instead of playing politics,” he added
