The 3rd National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Alhaji Masawudu Osmanhas has issued a strong warning to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing supporters of engaging in unlawful activities across the country.
In an interview with Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt Fm Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show, the chairman alleged that NDC members have been attacking security forces and confiscating weapons from police officers to support looting operations.
He declared the NPP’s readiness to respond decisively to these actions across all 16 regions of the nation.
“Members of the NDC are allegedly taking matters into their own hands, seizing guns from security personnel, and carrying out illegal looting. The NPP will not sit idly by but will fight back to ensure law and order prevail” the chairman stated.
He also criticized Malik Basintale, the deputy communication Officer of the NDC, a prominent NDC figure, urging him to respect democratic processes.
According to him, Basintale should wait for the President-elect to assume office and appoint his ministers before initiating any attempts to recover alleged state property the NDC claims was taken by the outgoing NPP government.
The chairman further alleged that Basintale has directed individuals to block NPP members from traveling outside the country. “It is unlawful for anyone to interfere with the freedom of movement of citizens in this country. I caution Malik Basintale to cease these actions immediately” he stated.
The NPP’s leadership emphasized its commitment to upholding the rule of law and called for calm during the ongoing political transition. However, they warned the NDC to avoid taking actions that could escalate tensions or undermine national security.
This comes amidst a heated political climate following the recent elections, with both parties trading accusations over the management of state resources and adherence to constitutional processes. The NPP reiterated its position as a law-abiding party and vowed to defend its members against any unlawful actions.
Further developments on this matter are expected in the coming days.
