The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has provided a fully equipped clinic for the Samuel Otu Presbyterian Senior High and Technical School at Takyimantia as part of the church’s corporate social responsibility.
The project was funded by the church at the cost of GHc 130,000 through a collaborative effort of the Department of Development and Social Services, the Department of Education of the church, the Presbytery Lay Representatives on the General Assembly of the Church, and the Brong Ahafo Presbytery.
Facilities at the new clinic include an Out Patient Department, consulting room, male and female wards with beds, and a dispensary.
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev Prof Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante dedicating the clinic on Monday 1st May 2023 said it was the vision of the church to ensure that all the 35 senior high schools belonging to the church were provided with fully equipped clinics to take care of the health needs of students.
He said the church was concerned about the lack of a sick bay in the school, compelling students to walk long distances to access medical care. The Moderator encouraged the schools to maintain the buildings well in order to ensure they last long.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Evans Asare, thanked the church for the gesture. He assured that management would take good care of the facility.
The Moderator was accompanied by the Brong Ahafo Presbytery Chairperson, Rev Benjamin Appiah, wife of the Moderator, Mrs. Florence Mante, the Director of Development and Social Services, Mr. Rebecca Teiko Sabah, Director of Mission and Evangelism, Rev Dr. Emmanuel Sarbah, Health Coordinator of the Church Mr. Sam Appiah, and the Public Relations Officer of the Church Rev. George Larbi, and other officials.
