In line with activities to marked the 30 years of consolidating constitutional democracy and building national cohesion to deepen civic awareness, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has urged students at the various schools to present themselves as an agent of change and take their basic responsibilities seriously within the Akuapem South municipality of the Eastern region.
The Akuapem South NCCE advised learners to demonstrate discipline in their academic journey to enable them to become useful, good citizens and future leaders in the country.
The Akuapem South NCCE undertook an educational trip for students of Aburi Girls Senior High School to study how the general assembly operated under the 1992 constitution at the last 2023 general assembly.
The observation of the general assembly meeting was guided by the principles as parliament of the local section to serve the people as a first class in development and disciplines in all spheres of life in the local government system.
NCCE instructed the students to impress upon the spirit of belongingness and contribute towards the development of their communities.
The Akuapem South Director of the NCCE, Mr. Alex Owusu Akyaw on an excursion report of Aburi Girls Senior High School said that the activities were a practical aspect of the assembly concept as stipulated in the chapel twenty of the 1992 constitution of the country.
Mr. Alex Akyaw stated that some eminent personalities in the municipality interacted and imparted virtues of good citizenship into the students.
Mr. Alex Akyaw expressed that NCCE will take students to the parliament house and the supreme court in the Greater Accra region to help sharpen the knowledge of learners in the municipality.
He indicated that the commission is embarking on the educational activities and trips to deepen civic awareness among the youth in the area.
