Joyce Bawa Mogtari has supported the government’s decision to fire Inspector General of Police George Akuffo Dampare.
Christian Tetteh Yohuno was named IGP by the government in a statement released on March 13, 2025.
He is anticipated to revamp the nation’s policing, according to the statement.
Before he was appointed, a few CSOs had filed a lawsuit to get an injunction that would stop the president from firing the heads of the several security agencies.
In response to the CSOs’ action, Joyce Bawa stated that the president need a loyalist, particularly because security concerns were raised.
“They sat aloof and watched askance as our country was mismanaged, and looked on as former President Akufo Addo made reckless financial decisions and just as many frivolous appointments. Now they run to the Supreme Court to stop President Mahama from sacking IGP Dampare.
Indeed it is trite learning that Leaders have to appoint persons loyal to them, especially when it comes to the safety and security of the country.”
