Ghana National Association of Private Schools in the West Akyem Municipality of the Eastern Region has expressed worry over what they describe as a” continuous threat” on them from officials of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust(SSNIT) in the Area.
According to them, officials of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) in the Area have no mercy on private businesses and have been chasing them for the payment of Insurance for their staff with warnings to close down their Schools if they default payment in just a day.
In an interview, Vice President of the Association in the Municipality, Reverend George Yamoah said they depend on School fees for statutory payment and administration cost but most parents in the area delay payment which has been affecting other payment.
He said private schools in Kwaebibirim, Denkyembour, and West Akyem Municipal are not given few days by SSNIT Officials in the Area in a tough time and they have called on Government Appointees in the area to intervene to encourage them to expand their Business to support Education and creates jobs.
Reverend George Yamoah said SSNIT Officials sent some of their members to court for failing to pay Insurance for staff when Schools were closed down in 2020.
The Public Relations Officer of the Association in the West Akyem Municipality, Mr. Evans Agyei expressed worried about the neglect of private Schools by the Central Government and District Assemblies.
He said most of the District Assemblies are failing to share National Cake to reach private Schools and do not appreciate their work and said they cannot be left off in Training of students and future leaders for the country.
Meanwhile, the Association has vowed to collect School fees arrears in 2020 from parents for their statutory payment and has hinted to increase fees for the 2021 Academic year.
