Pastor Professor William Koomson, acting Vice-Chancellor of Valley View University (VVU) has revealed that the novel Covid-19 pandemic and current global economic crisis have brought dire consequences to private universities in Ghana.
He indicated that private universities are recording a decline in enrolment, a situation which would subsequently affect their finances and hence require Government’s intervention.
He also advised the management of the various private universities to tailor pragmatic measures to ease the burden on already suffering students, especially in areas of fee payment.
He called for the introduction of more attractive online courses or programs that are less costly as it has become the order of the day after the COVID-19 outbreak.
Prof. Koomson disclosed this in Techiman in Bono East Region during the 27th matriculation ceremony of the University to induct 510 students; comprising 221 females and 289 males.
