Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Mrs Cynthia Mamle Morrison who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Agona West Municipality of the Central Region have encouraged women to promote gender equality in order to improve the wellbeing of women.
Gender equality is the state of equal ease to access resources and opportunities regardless of gender, including economic participation and decision making for women.
During the celebration of the international women’s day (IWD), Mrs Morrison indicates that gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but a foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
“Women should have access to education, healthcare, job, social protection and representation in political and economic decision-making processes in order to enable them to enjoy their rights,” she said.
She added that women have every opportunity to participate in decisions that impact them, their families and societies.
“Men should not rely on women alone hence they should support them to fulfil their home responsibilities”, she stated.
Mrs Cynthia Mamle Morrison, therefore, encourages individuals across the world to work to build a great development of their societies by improving the wellbeing of women.
