The Ministry of National Security says the protection of the rights and Freedom of Ghanaian citizens remains a priority to the Ministry therefore has initiated investigations into allegations of assault by Citi FM and Citi TV Journalists, Caleb Kudah and Zoe Abu Baidoo.
Caleb Kudah was arrested by National Security Personnel for filming abandoned state vehicles as part of a follow-up to a story he had pursued in the interest of the taxpayer.
However, he was arrested allegedly assaulted, and detained by National Security Operatives.
The Armed National Security Personnel later stormed Citi TV/Citi FM Office in a Rambo style to arrest Zoe Abu -Baidoo seized her phone for receiving the said images captured by Caleb Kudah.
Even though Zoe Abu-Baidoo has not claimed that she was manhandled, she said the action of the operatives made her traumatized, and the fact that she was forced to delete all video and photo files on her phone, aside from the files at the center of the case.
Responding to the arrest of Caleb Kudah and Zoe Abu-Baidoo, The Ministry of National Security says it upholds professionalism in its duties, therefore, promised to take appropriate steps if the allegations are found to be true.
“The Ministry takes with all seriousness, the allegations of manhandling of the two journalists during the interrogation.
The Ministry has therefore initiated investigations into the said allegations,” the Ministry said in a statement.
