The Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), Dr. Shafic Suleman, has shared his views on the ongoing PURC public hearing at the Shippers’ Conference.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Suleman explained that the hearings, which began in the Greater Accra Region, will extend to all other regions, including Volta, Eastern, Western, Northern, Upper East, and Upper West. The nationwide consultations will give Ghanaian consumers the opportunity to understand and contribute to the tariff proposals submitted to the PURC.
He emphasized that the Commission is committed to extensive engagement with consumers across the country to ensure that their views and concerns are fully considered. According to him, the hearings are designed to allow the public to share their opinions on the various proposals presented by utility providers.
Responding to a question, Dr. Suleman clarified that the proposals come directly from the utility companies.
He assured the public that the PURC will carefully assess consumer feedback before making any decision on whether to approve or reject the proposals.
He further reassured Ghanaians that the Commission is committed to delivering fair and reasonable tariffs for consumers.
